We are so excited to share with you our adventures in gardening at Rogers Elementary School. Our gardens were added in the spring of 2016 and our first plantings went in at the beginning of June. Each grade level has their own garden bed that will eventually be cared for by them.
For this past summer, vegetables such as tomatoes, green beans, onions, cucumbers, squash and such were planted in the gardens. We also included items such as a variety of herbs and sunflowers. As the new school year gets started, an after-school group will begin meeting and learning with hands-on experiences the joys and benefits of gardening, composting, and preserving our own food.
